‘lan su garden tile’ is a large, hand-stitched, punch needle rug hooking art piece. Custom framed and ready to hang.
This piece is one of several ‘train rugs’ that were created during and after a cross-country train journey in the summer of 2022. I created approximately 12 rugs based off scenes I encountered through train windows and during brief station stops when I traveled from Pittsburgh west to Porland Oregan, south to Los Angeles, and east back to Pittsburgh. ‘lan su garden tile’ was inspired by intricate stone-tiled pathways inside the Lan Su Chinese Garden, a serene, city-block-sized oasis of beauty just blocks from the busy train station.
Materials: wools + raw linen + custom pine frame. Treated with permethrin.
